Back online after a two year break.  Reworking some coding issues in a new game and introducing a new sub domain for all my fitness freaks.  Good to be back!

February 18, 2004

LOL, that is all I have to say.  Has it really been since May 5, 2003?  Holy sh_t, that was one hell of a Cinco de Mayo party.  The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.  Although I just finished a stint in a Mexican Prison with my cell mate Pablo, I am still alive and back in the US of A.

On the home front...I have been through 3 computers, two cases of strep and an office move at work.  All code is now recovered, Yeah!  A couple of weeks ago I started back-up on Riotz changes for the die-hards and have been doing some interesting work on a separate engine.

I hope to see you all soon.

May 5, 2003

Well, we've been busy in the background here in the Den.  Lots of new ideas and coding help going on in the forums.  Zepplin[FnR] has done a redesign of all of the WolffloW media for the next release.  Below is a sampling of the new background.

The rest of the pics are just as hot.  Way to go bro.  I have been hammering out a new front end for Street Wars and expect it will be quite fun to play.  Many other numerous little projects going on.  You can check out some of the ranting in the forums.

No way, two posts in one month!  Well, I have some exciting news regarding Street Wars and I thought I would share it with you.

Basics:
In Street Wars you have a limited carrying capacity. One hand gun, one large weapon, one melee and 2 grenades (flash or flare, not grenade launcher). There is also limited ammo. No ammo spawns in the game. You can take another players weapon and ammo if you kill them. There is no health, only bandages. When you are wounded, you bleed. Stop the bleeding with bandages or you will eventually bleed to death. Along with leaving a trail so the cops or thugs can find you. Now all of this coding is done.

I am implementing this scoring system this week. When you die, you go into spectator mode and will follow players on the OTHER TEAM. A timer is set and you will not respawn until your time expires. The amount of time you must wait is dependent on the type and power of the weapon used to kill you. If you are knifed (plan on parking awhile and hoping at least one team mate survives till then). If someone kills you with a spray from an ak47, you will be out for less time. Here is an example:

Knife - 45 seconds
Pistol - 30 seconds
Grenade L or rocket - 15 seconds, etc.

Now, here is the catch. One member of your team must remain alive until it is time to re-spawn. The team which still has at least one player alive when the other team is all dead is awarded a bonus. A multiplier of 1.25 will be applied to all of the surviving teams frags. Keep in mind people will be bleeding out while the other team mates are waiting to respawn (you are gonna need to think a little) "Can you make it?". I have been hesitant to move forward up until now because there was no real original element to the game. This is exactly what I have been looking for. More to follow. If you have comments let me know.  Drop me a line in the forums.

Has it been that long?  Wow, I suck.  Well, we've got alot of little things going, but nothing major to chat about yet.  I have some help in the forums with coding questions or general setup issues.  I have forwarded Street Wars over to Sylacs for review and general improvements.

Not much else.  I am still looking for suggestions on the 'reconnect' problem for wolfflow.  Happy fraggin'.

I wanted to post some info and let people know that I am actively taking Questions regarding programming for Kingpin.  I thought that it would be a nice little something that I could give back to the Kingpin community.  My ulterior motive is....maybe we could get some fresh meat interested in making more mods for our beloved game.

I may not be able to answer your questions...but I will give it my best shot.  You can head on over to the forums to post any questions.  Feel free to start a new thread under any of the public sections.  I would encourage anyone who is interested in coding for kingpin to partake in the festivities.  The link is here:  Forums

Happy New Year Kingpinners!  I hope everyone was safe...so I can shoot ya later ;-).

December 30, 2002

Wow, I bearly made the December update on the site, but the holidays have been crazy.  I have updated the downloads page and posted some additional coding practice at the forum.  Enjoy your holidays.

November 30, 2002

Well, I wasn't going to let the month of November completely pass me by. hehe.  Thanks to Truz and an anonomous ho, I have updated the WolffloW dll to version 3.4b.  This update resolves the dedicated server issue (You would know about it if you tried to play it).  Considering that I got two total comments on the dedicated server bug, I would have to say, not many are interested in playing it.  I hope you fraggers at least enjoy the single player bot action.  See the downloads

page for the updated link OR the full package if you didn't get it yet.

I will package up the Riotz source code for someone who wants to port it to Linux.  Mr. Damage, if you got someone in mind, just let me know.

I still have a handfull of mods lying around the shop that are partially complete.  I would like to put them out by the end of the year...but it is as time permits.

October 20, 2002

RioTZ 2.0a is completed.  RioTZ is a Team based mod that was originally started by SnaP.  I have gone in and made some requested changes to give it more of a Rocket Arena feel.  The premise of the MOD is that you start the game with every weapon and all ammo.  You get one life, use it wisely.  Each map is played (server specified) 5 to 9 times.  Which ever team still has players alive at the end of a round wins.  Which ever team wins the majority of the rounds, wins the Map.

The new server setup has a new default setting which you can turn on in the riotz.cfg file (default_riotz_server).  This turns on no friendly fire, you can't kill yourself (except lava, etc) which makes for great rocket jumping.  PS: try to nade jump.  hehefun.

Anyway, I have uploaded it on my downloads page.  It is a self-extracting exe file, just like WolffloW, which will setup all of your directories for you.  I also uploaded it to Kingpin4ever.  Mr. Damage is reworking the exe file to a zip file and adding making some separate client side pak files.  Enjoy, feedback is welcome.
